1Looks great but doesn't hold up well.Mar 14, 2012

I am a big fan of Oakley gear and it's tough for me to say anything bad about any of their stuff but I simply cannot recommend these frames to anyone. Last I checked (earlier today) they are not even on Oakley's website anymore. I can't say I'm surprised though since I am having the same issue mentioned in the other two reviews listed here...the "metal" finish is peeling. When I contacted Oakley about this issue they confirmed that they have, in fact, been discontinued but they would not tell me why. My guess is that they had quite a few complaints about the finish on these frames being a problem and decided spraying some metallic paint on a plastic surface was a bad idea because it doesn't really last very long after repeated exposure to sweat. I will admit these are one sweet looking pair of sunglasses and the fire iridium lens works very well. But Oakley dropped the ball this time. They jacked up the price tag about $50 because of a metallic finish that can't even offer the durability the company is known for and they don't even give you polarized lenses either. Instead of having them replace mine with the same frame I will try to get them to swap them for a different finish altogether. I love the pit bull frame style but this particular color/finish just does not work.

1flaking of frame paintJan 07, 2012

I loved the look of my Pit Bulls and have been an Oakley fan for a very long time. I never had a problem with the many pairs I have owned except that they didn't float and now South East Florida coast is littered with the pairs I have lost. Anyway, after two months I just noticed a super thin layer of paint or some coating flaking off on the inside where flesh touches frame exposing a bright shiny silver frame material. After 180 bucks at the sunglass hut I expect more. They are not even polarized. Stay away until Oakley fixes the problem. They totally know about it. Sucks!

1Wow...poor build qualitySep 14, 2011

Love the look of these and I am a big Oakley fan in general, but stay away from these. After 1 week of ownership, I lightly brushed up against some shelving and boom, I tore right through the fire iridium which to my dismay I discovered is actually a very thin coating on the lens itself (it is also a smudge magnet). While I am technically to blame, I have never had a lens scratch on me as easily as these did. On to the much larger problem. After a month of ownership, I discovered the FMJ gray peeling heavily just under the nose pads on both sides. I contacted Oakley warranty repair and have yet to hear back, so I cant speak to that. One suggestion given to me by the Oakley representative I talked to was that I wash my lenses after every use. I'm actually shocked by the lack of durability as I thought this is what Oakley was known for. After one month of use, my Pit Bulls now look like I have been wearing them for several years. Too bad too, because they are very comfortable and I love the color combo.
